SLED RIDE WITH HUSKIES AND FARM VISIT IN ROVANIEMI

TOUR INFO

On the day of the activity, we will pick you up from the center of Rovaniemi. The journey to the husky kennel takes about 35 minutes. Upon arrival at the kennel, we will give you safety instructions for driving the sled. The 5 km distance takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes on the sled, and the 10 km distance takes 1 to 1 hour 10 minutes, depending on the weather conditions and snow conditions.

You will enjoy a ride, observing the incredible landscapes of Finnish Lapland while sitting or driving a sled pulled by huskies. After the sled ride with the huskies, we can pet them, take photos with them, and thank them for their hard work. We will warm up with a hot chocolate or berry juice and something sweet to eat in a yurt. Inside the yurt, we can ask the mushers any questions we may have.

We do sustainable, non-mass tourism. For us, offering quality is more important than quantity. This way we can better attend to your needs and answer your questions. We strictly select our partners based on ethical and responsible principles to promote a more authentic and respectful tourism in Lapland.

Alaskan Husky are known to be highly efficient and versatile sled dogs. Although their name suggests they come from Alaska, this breed was developed in Canada and in the northern states of the USA. Over the years, they have been selectively bred to be endurance sled dogs, capable of covering long distances in extreme weather conditions.

They vary greatly in size, weight, and appearance. In general, they are medium to large dogs with dense and thick fur that can be of various colors, including black, white, gray, brown, and red. They often have blue, brown, or heterochromia eyes (each eye of a different color).

In terms of personality, Alaskan Huskies are known to be intelligent, hardworking, and energetic. They are often very loyal to their owners and enjoy human company. Because they have been bred to work in teams, they can get along well with other dogs as long as they are properly socialized from a young age.

It is important to note that Alaskan Huskies are high-energy dogs that require a lot of exercise and physical activity. If kept as pets in homes, they need to have the opportunity to run and play outdoors every day to stay healthy and happy. They also need a balanced diet and good veterinary care to ensure they remain in good physical and health condition.
